Establishing an inter-ministerial working group to prepare to receive and operate the FTA Portal (03/01/2022)
According to Decision No. 2773/QD-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued on December 10, 2021, the Inter-Ministerial Working Group, consisting of 29 members from 16 related ministries and branches, is expected to participate in the transport of goods and services. implementation and development of FTAP after handover.
The list of members of the Inter-Ministerial Working Group of Decision No. 2773/QD-BCT dated December 10, 2021 is shown in Appendix I, including representatives of the following ministries, branches and agencies: Industry and Trade, Finance Government, Planning and Investment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Natural Resources and Environment, Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, Science and Technology, Information and Communication, Diplomacy, Justice, Industry Security, Culture - Sports and Tourism, State Bank of Vietnam, Vietnam Television Station, Voice of Vietnam Radio and Vietnam News Agency.
The standing body of the Working Group is located at the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Tasks and coordination mechanism in dealing with work of the members of the Working Group are stated in the Operational Regulations in Appendix 2 of Decision No. 2773/QD-BCT dated December 10, 2021.
The web portal on Vietnam's Free Trade Agreement (FTAP) is built and developed with technical support from the Australian Government and managed by the World Bank. FTAP was started research and construction from March 2019. On December 23, 2020 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade inaugurated the trial version of FTAP. Attending the opening ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh; Head of Central Economic Commission (Former Minister of Industry and Trade) Tran Tuan Anh; World Bank Country Director for Vietnam Carolyn Turk; Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Robyn Mudie. On May 8, 2021 in Official Dispatch No. 3027/VPCP-QHQT, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with relevant ministries, branches, localities and agencies in receiving , effectively operate the FTAP.
It is expected that in February 2022, FTAP will be officially handed over from the World Bank to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for official operation, upgrading and development.
