New regulations on criteria for enterprises to register for selection of products that achieve National Brands (01/18/2022)
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued Circular 25/2021/TT-BCT amending and supplementing Circular 33/2019/TT-BCT stipulating the Criteria System of the Vietnam National Brand Program, taking effect from 07/02/2022.

Accordingly, Circular 25 amends regulations on criteria for enterprises whose products have registered for consideration and selection of products that achieve Vietnam's National Brand (Clause 2, Article 6) as follows: "Being an enterprise established under the Vietnamese law and by Vietnamese organizations or individuals holding more than 50% of the charter capital or the total number of ordinary shares of that enterprise. In case the enterprise does not meet the criteria for capital but has a product participating in the selection that shows Vietnamese unique elements, contributing to improving the image and value of the national brand of Vietnam, the National Brand Council Vietnam considers and decides".

The above regulation will replace the current regulation in Circular 33: Criteria for enterprises with registered products for selection "Being an enterprise established under Vietnamese law".
In addition, Circular 25 also supplements the content of activities of projects under the Vietnam National Brand Program.

For supporting businesses to build, develop and protect their brands at home and abroad, the unit in charge of implementing the project implements the following activities: Research, evaluate and prepare specialized reports on the need to protect intellectual property rights; develop and distribute documents and information products to guide enterprises in the form of printed copies, electronic publications or disseminated at conferences, seminars, training courses...

This Circular takes effect from February 7, 2022.
Principles of product selection with Vietnam National Brand

- The selection of products that achieve Vietnam's National Brand is done by scoring method. The rating scale is 1,000. The rating scale is determined specifically for each evaluation index in the criteria specified in Appendix 2 issued with this Circular.

- The total score required for a product to achieve the Vietnam National Brand is from 650 points or more, and the score for each criterion is 60% or more.
