According to local data, including transshipment through the United States, Vietnam's exported leather and footwear products to Canada by the end of May 2023 reached 433 million USD. Canada's total imports during the period for this group of products was 1.14 billion USD; That is, Vietnam alone accounts for over 27% of the market share. Currently, Vietnam is the second most important exporting country to Canada for HS code 64, after China, but is the country with the highest growth rate (47.4%); while Canada sharply reduced imports from China.

In 2022, Vietnam has exported over 1.8 billion USD of textile and garment products of all kinds to the area. If considering all 3 HS codes, by 2022 Vietnam will account for 12.5% ​​of the textile and garment market share in Canada, only behind China (32.1%) and Bangladesh (12.8%). In the first 5 months of 2023, the total export value of HS code 61 into the Canadian market reached 283 million USD, HS code 62 reached 299 million USD, HS code 63 reached 26 million USD. According to local data, including transshipment through the United States, up to now, Vietnam has exported 608 million USD of textile and garment products with codes 61-62-63, although the growth rate has begun to slow down with codes 61-62-63. HS 62 (7.8%), HS 63 (1.9%) and a slight decline with code HS 61 (-13.4%).

To support Vietnamese textile, garment and footwear businesses, the Vietnam Trade Office in Canada worked with the Organizing Committee of WANZ Global Textile and Leather Expo Show (Textile Expo – Global Textile, Garment and Leather and Footwear Fair) to have Preferential prices for Vietnamese businesses. Textile Expo is the first fair organized by Wanz Group and Cocktail Int in collaboration with Canadian partners in Brampton, Canada (a city in the province of Ontario, about 45km from Toronto).
