The program is expected as follows (detailed schedule will be updated for members):
1. Vietnam - Myanmar Business Connection Session
- Time & Location: Morning of June 23, 2025 at MCEF headquarters
- Myanmar side: MCEF leaders and businesses in the construction industry, importers/distributors of cement, iron and steel, steel frames, wall and ceiling materials, construction sanitary ware and other construction materials.
- Vietnam side: About 15 quality manufacturers/suppliers of the above products; Vietnam - Myanmar Friendship Association and Vietnam Trade Office in Myanmar.
2. Visit to Myanmar partners
- MCEF will arrange a delegation to visit 2-3 large enterprises/corporations in the construction industry on the afternoon of June 23, 2025 and June 24, 2025.
- Businesses can proactively arrange their own meetings with partners at appropriate times.
- Plan to add a Trade Program with Shwe Taung Group and leading private enterprises in Myanmar of the Myanmar International Business Promotion Center (IBPC).
- Cost: Enterprises arrange their own air tickets to Yangon and accommodation in Yangon (currently, Myanmar Airways International has direct flights from Hanoi to Yangon on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays; Ho Chi Minh City to Yangon on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays; Da Nang to Yangon on Thursdays and Saturdays; the Trade Office will introduce contacts for enterprises to book air tickets and hotels if needed).

Myanmar partners attending are mostly business owners, who can decide.

The 7.9-magnitude earthquake on March 28, 2025 in Myanmar (focused on the central Sagaige region, Mandalay City and the capital Nay Pyi Taw) is considered the largest since 1912 in Myanmar, causing serious damage to people and property. It is estimated that there were about 5,352 deaths, 11,404 injuries and hundreds of missing people. The earthquake destroyed and damaged over 65,000 houses, 2,514 schools, 6,027 temples, 350 hospitals, 170 bridges and damaged the Yangon - Mandalay Expressway.
Reconstruction efforts are underway, however, Myanmar's construction materials industry is still weak and heavily dependent on imports. For cement, Myanmar still has 6 cement factories in operation, supplying about 8 million tons/year while the annual demand is about 12 million tons and has skyrocketed after the earthquake. Myanmar mostly has to import iron and steel (demand of about 5 million tons/year) and other construction products and materials, and of course, post-earthquake reconstruction projects create a huge demand now and in the future.
