Karnataka has 47 IT Special Zones and dedicated IT investment areas, 3,500 IT companies. The state has 550,000 IT professionals, accounting for one-third of the total number of IT professionals in the country. Karnataka is India's largest software exporter, with a total export value of computer software and electronics of $81.4 billion in 2019-2020.

Karnataka is the leading startup hub in India, home to 40 unicorns worth around $163 billion and in 2022-2023 alone, 6 startups have become unicorns. The government has implemented the Karnataka Startup Policy 2022-27 and the Karnataka Research Development and Innovation Policy 2022.

To facilitate the provision of information to the Vietnamese business community on investment and business cooperation opportunities in the field of information and communication technology; exploring opportunities to connect startup ecosystems in Karnataka and Vietnam, on June 7, 2023, the Vietnam Trade Office in India coordinated with the Karnataka state government to organize a Webinar with the theme "Discovering the startup ecosystem" industry and the field of IT and communication between the state of Karnataka - India and Vietnam". Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to India Nguyen Thanh Hai will attend and speak at the Conference.
