Inspection of wooden packaging in import shipments in 2022 in Norway (01/20/2022)
In 2022, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority will monitor and inspect imported shipments packed with wooden materials. The purpose of the test is to ensure that there are no serious plant pests and that the wooden packaging has been packaged and marked according to the international standard ISPM 15.

The Norwegian Food Safety Authority will prioritize the control of wooden packaging accompanying goods from China, Portugal, the US, Korea, Japan and Italy. Special attention is paid to the following groups of imported products: stone (paving stone, curbstone, paving slabs, construction stone, facing brick, steel wire/pipe/nail, mechanical equipment, hand tools, tractors and motor vehicle parts).

The Norwegian Food Safety Authority will prioritize controls from these countries, but that doesn't mean they won't check from other countries. Therefore, businesses exporting goods to Norway that are using wooden packaging should pay attention to comply with regulations.
