In 2020, Vietnam's exports to Sweden, Denmark, and Norway (collectively referred to as Nordic) are 51.26 million USD, accounting for 0.7% market share in this region, while goods These countries import quite a large amount of seafood about 7.27 billion USD each year and continuously increase over the years, so this is a market that still has a lot of potential for development.

The two main products that Vietnam exports to this market are frozen shrimp and fish fillets.

For pangasius and tiger shrimp, Vietnam dominates the actual import market share because most of these products in Northern Europe originate from Vietnam. The EVFTA Agreement that took effect in August 2020 brings many incentives, creates more competitiveness for Vietnam's seafood products, and is an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to export directly to the Nordic market with higher prices than exporting through intermediaries.

To support seafood exporters to this market, the Vietnam Trade Office in Sweden, concurrently with Denmark, Norway, Iceland, and Latvia compiled and published the book "Northern European Seafood Market". , which in turn introduces the overview, size, trend, market segmentation, production situation, import and export, distribution channels, and market regulations. The book also evaluates the advantages and disadvantages, from which to make recommendations for businesses.
