According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first 10 months of this year, Vietnam's coffee exports to Algeria reached 52,174 tons, turnover reached 116 million USD, an increase of 52% in volume and 67% in value over the same period. last year.
Algeria is a country that does not grow coffee, so it must import 100% to serve domestic needs. Coffee is also the most popular drink of Algerians. With a population of more than 46 million people, each year, this North African country imports about 130,000 tons of coffee beans of all kinds with a value of about 300 million USD. The main coffee exporting countries to Algeria are Vietnam, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia and Uganda.
Vietnamese coffee still has a lot of room for export to Algeria because it is highly appreciated by importers and consumers for its quality and flavor. According to experts, Vietnamese coffee has a special flavor, creates high foam, and has the ability to absorb sugar better than coffee from other countries. During processing, Algerian roasters often mix Vietnamese robusta coffee with robusta or arabica coffee from other countries in certain proportions. Currently, Algerian importers are very interested in the supply of green coffee beans from Vietnam when our country begins to enter the harvest season. Importers often look to buy 18-sieve raw coffee at an affordable price, equal to or lower than the selling price of international intermediaries. Total taxes and coffee import fees are 63% applicable to products from all countries.
