The Ministry of Industry and Trade launches an online contest "Learning about Earth Hour 2023 Campaign" (03/17/2023)
Originating from an iconic light-out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, Earth Hour has become the world's largest environmental movement. To date, this event has attracted individuals, communities, businesses and organizations from over 190 countries. Vietnam is also among the countries that actively respond to the Earth Hour campaign.
The Earth Hour event takes place for 1 hour from 8:30 to 21:30 on the last Saturday of March every year with the main activity: turning off the lights together for 1 hour to respond to the call to protect the environment, save money and save energy. save energy, save electricity.
Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu - Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Steering Committee for Energy Saving (Ministry of Industry and Trade) emphasized that "Earth Hour program aims at one message: all All people and communities, let's save electricity in all days of the year, not just stopping at 1 hour of the Earth Hour campaign, through very simple but meaningful actions such as: turning off the lights. When leaving the room electrical equipment, make the most of natural light, set the air conditioner at 26 degrees or higher, increase maintenance of electrical equipment, etc. By such specific actions we are contributing reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect the environment, and aim for a green future for the country as well as for all mankind.
In 2023, within the framework of the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy for the period of 2019 - 2030, the Ministry of Industry and Trade launched the Earth Hour campaign with the message "Saving electricity - becoming a habit". . Accordingly, many meaningful and practical response activities will be implemented throughout March.
Prominent among the activities implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade is the online contest "Learning about the Earth Hour Campaign 2023". The contest aims to promote propaganda and dissemination of knowledge on energy saving, electricity saving and environmental protection; at the same time raising awareness and awareness of the community in saving energy and protecting the environment.

After each contest, the Organizing Committee will give 05 prizes to the 05 contestants with the highest results worth 1,000,000 VND/prize and the winning certificate from the Organizing Committee.

After 14 years of being organized, the Earth Hour campaign in Vietnam has attracted a large number of participants from all walks of life and localities. If in 2009 - the first year Vietnam participated in the Earth Hour campaign, only 6 provinces and cities responded, now, entering the 15th year of organization, this international event has attracted all 63 people. provinces and cities across the country. With many activities implemented, including the online contest "Learning about Earth Hour 2023 campaign", the Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that the Earth Hour campaign will help raise people's awareness. people and businesses on the issue of energy saving and environmental protection.
