The GRUVN CRUZ-16X (eXtended shape) is a high-quality, mid-weight, all-court pickleball bat featuring a premium T700 raw carbon fiber face and an elongated shape. Our all-new CRUZ Control Series is an upgrade to the RAW Control Series. GRUVN was just the 3rd paddle company to produce carbon fiber paddles in early 2022 with our RAW Control Series and now we are improving upon them with our new CRUZ Control Gen 1.5 Series of carbon fiber paddles. New features include:
• The one-piece construction makes the paddle more durable and allows us to produce thinner handles than our RAW paddles. All CRUZ paddles have the same handle thickness of ~4.125″ (same as our MUVN and LAZR thermoplastic paddles).
• The walls are spray foamed around the edges and down through the handle which increases the sweet spot and increases control. The CRUZ paddles are not thermoplastic like our LAZR and MUVN paddles.
The 16.5” long paddle length extends the player’s reach and the 5.5” handle length allows for a powerful backhand with either hand. The slightly smaller 7.375” face width gives the player great aerodynamic feel and hand speed, and the ~8.0 ounce weight provides stability and balance for all aspects of the game, including net plays and returning hard shots. The CRUZ-16X features a 16mm thick polypropylene honeycomb core that is designed to react evenly to impact and provide precise control while absorbing vibration and noise. Polypropylene is the most popular core among pickleball players.
The 3D perforated cushion grip is made of a two-tone double-layer grip. The inner layer is made of sweat-absorbent sponge and the outer layer is made of PU material and uses a large vent design. The grip is very comfortable and the anti-slip and sweat-absorbent effect is of the highest quality. This paddle has an ocean blue protective edge and also comes with a zippered neoprene cover with the GRÜVN logo for protection pickleball paddle protector when not in play ($15 value!) .
What are the differences in how the CRUZ, RAW, LAZR, and MUVN bats play?
The biggest difference is that the LAZR and MUVN bats have much more rebound than the CRUZ and RAW bats because they are thermoformed. If you are a player looking for extra power, the LAZR and MUVN bats are for you. Some players may find it difficult to transition to thermoformed bats because they offer more power. If you prefer more control, the CRUZ and RAW bats will be a better fit for you. The LAZR and MUVN bats play quite similarly, with the LAZR offering more rebound and a little more power and dwell time. The LAZR adds a different aesthetic to the bat face with a red and blue mix for those who don’t like the raw black carbon fiber surface. The RAW paddles have a slightly softer feel than the CRUZ paddles, and the RAW paddles have a thicker handle.

• Each CRUZ paddle will come with the GRUVN paddle cleaner, which is a 2.5” x 2” x 1” rubber stick, for carbon fiber paddles only (not for graphite or composite paddles). Rub it on the surface of the paddle to keep it clean and also to maximize spin. It’s not pretty, but your paddle will look great after use 🙂
