1. Origin:
Pure rice variety TBR97 was selected by the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants. ThaiBinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company is the exclusive unit of production and business.
2. Characteristics of varieties:
TBR97 is a drought-resistant rice variety with wide adaptability and tolerance to intensive farming.

Varieties with short growth period: In the Northern provinces (from Thua Thien Hue onwards): Spring crop is 120 - 125 days, Summer crop is 100 - 105 days; The South Central and Central Highlands provinces: Winter-Spring crop (SW) 105 - 110 days, Summer-Autumn crop (HT) 95-100 days; Southern provinces: 95 -100 days.

Plant height 90-100cm, compact shape, hard plant, strong tillering, concentrated flowering, the average number of seeds/flower is 165-200 seeds, bright yellow color, high percentage of solid seeds. Weight of 1000 seeds 21 - 22 grams.

The variety is resistant to blast and brown planthoppers quite well, mildly infected with blight and brown spot.

Productivity: Winter and Spring crops: 70 - 75 quintals/ha, if intensive farming can reach 75 - 80 quintals/ha; HT crop, Season: 60 - 65 quintals/ha.

Milled rice ratio 68.0%, head rice/milled rice ratio 71-78%, amylose content 17.2%, long grain, clear, white rice, glossy, soft, dark, medium delicious.
