Australia introduced new import requirements for rice (07/24/2019)
The Australian Ministry of Agriculture released a new announcement about biosecurity conditions for rice products for "consumers or processors". Accordingly, importers must prove parboiled rice by providing all information in the manufacturer's declaration such as:

• Rice has been soaked in water at a minimum temperature of 600C for at least 4 hours or at 650C for 2 hours
• After that, rice is steamed at a minimum temperature of 1100C for at least 10 minutes or at 1170C for 5 minutes.
Please note that the manufacturer's declaration must comply with the requirements of the Australian Department of Agriculture's record and import requirements.
The Australian Ministry of Agriculture will verify the declaration information through random tests of rice germination shipments. All costs associated with this test will be borne by the importing party.
